Modest Ballgown with Sleeves
Size 10, off-white, vintage wedding ballgown from 1974. The matching hat and very full circular, two tier veil is included with the purchase of the gown.
Size 10. Gown measurements: Bust 35.5. Waist 29. Length from underarm to hem at side seam 50". Train 18". The two-tiered veil measures from centers: about 23" blusher and 25" second tier.
This modest wedding gown has a high collar, square neckline in the back and front. The body of the gown is a sheer fabric stitched to a satin lining with embroidered white eyelet trim. The wide eyelet trim has white satin ribbon weaved in down the center. The satin ribbon woven through the trim goes down the center of the unlined short sleeves, the center of the gown front and the center of the skirt back. Narrower matching trim without the statin ribbon is on the sleeve edges, unlined collar and the hem. Satin ribbon waist. The satin lining has slight overall even age discoloration giving the gown a soft light cream color. Metal zipper. Stiffening is stitched to hem. Sleeves do not puff up at shoulders. Photos were taken with additional pouf slip which is not included in sale. The gown has none.
Every once in awhile we come across a very exceptional wedding gown. This is one of those. It is one of a kind, very different ready to wear. If you appreciate old textiles and craftsmanship don't let this one get away. It is clean, unstained and in excellent condition.
