Modest vintage bridal wedding gown with train.
Off-White, long sleeves with flared cuff and mandarin high collar. One loop found to
bustle on one covered button under zipper. Some oval beads are missing, mostly on the back, perhaps one from each applique.
New beads from a craft store could be glued on. All beads and sequins are glued. Or, it could be left as is.
Fabric is unknown. I'd guess the slip is acetate or nylon. There is some repaired damage,
mostly on the slip. It looks like it was pressed with too warm an iron. None of this is seen while the gown is being worn. There
is a small round hole on the outside back toward the bottom. It is not very obvious. It could be removed if the
gown needed to be shortened.
The fabric could be used to make a baptism, communion or confirmation dress or Halloween
Gown measures: Bust: 16" across back, seam to seam. Across front 16" seam to
seam or 32".
Waist: 28". No size label. Possibly size 0. Length from underarm at side seam 50"
This gown was cleaned, preserved and boxed. The damage was obviously done by the pressing
and never mentioned to the bride. I do see a lot of this when opening sealed gown boxes. If you have a gown cleaned,
be sure you examine it before it is boxed.
The gown is lovely. It is clean and unstained. The original bride's daughter would
be happy if someone could get some use out of it. I would too.
